How to Make the Perfect Breakfast Sandwich (That Your Toddler Will Probably Destroy!)

So, I recently ordered this sandwich cutter/sealer from a Pampered Chef fundraiser (because who can resist a cute kitchen gadget?) and couldn’t wait to try it out! I was envisioning a fun twist on the classic PB&J… but instead, I decided to give it a go with a breakfast sandwich!

As any parent of a toddler knows, the dream is to make something super cute and watch them devour it… right? Well, let’s just say the sandwich was adorable, but what happened next was very on-brand for toddler life!

Ingredients:

  • 1 egg
  • 1 slice of cheese (I used a Kraft single—classic, right?)
  • 1 piece of bacon
  • 2 slices of bread

Directions:

  • Cook the bacon in a skillet. Personally, I like mine crispy (toddler approval pending), but cook it however you and your little one prefer!
  • Whisk the egg in a small bowl, and once the bacon’s done, remove it to a plate. Now, here’s the secret to my “bacon-egg” combo: I cook the egg right in the bacon grease. In our family, we call it a “bacon-egg,” and let me tell you, it’s the only way we eat eggs around here.
  • Pro tip: DO NOT STIR. Just let it cook gently on medium-low heat until it’s mostly firm. Then, carefully flip it to cook the other side.
  • Now for the fun part—assembly! I used my new sandwich cutter to cut the egg and cheese into a cute little shape, but I had to trim it a little to make sure it didn’t get caught in the seal. (Mom hack: the cuteness is definitely worth the extra effort.)
  • Layer the egg, cheese, and crispy bacon between the bread. Give it a quick press with the sandwich cutter (because it’s cute, duh!) and cut it into toddler-friendly pieces.
  • Grill it! Butter both sides of the bread and pop the sandwich in the skillet to get it nice and toasty. The result? A warm, melty, cheesy breakfast sandwich that will make your toddler’s eyes light up—or at least that’s the dream.

The Toddler Twist:

I handed this cute little sandwich masterpiece over to my toddler, who, in true toddler fashion, immediately deconstructed it into pieces and threw them everywhere.

But hey, that’s just life with a toddler, right? 😂 While this breakfast sandwich might not have stayed perfectly intact for long, it was still a fun (and delicious) way to mix things up!

Moral of the story: Maybe your toddler will love it, maybe they’ll launch it across the room—but regardless, you’ll enjoy every bite of that warm, cheesy, crispy goodness!

I mean, who doesn’t love a meal that’s as cute as it is tasty… even if it ends up on the floor? Let me know how it goes with your little one! Hopefully, you’ll have better luck than I did!
