How I Make a Latte at Home

Tired of spending $6–$7 every time you want a latte? Same! That’s why I started making them at home—and honestly, it’s so easy, affordable, and completely customizable. Here’s exactly how I do it!

Ingredients:

  • Coffee – I use Maxwell House, but any ground coffee works!
  • Sweetener – Sugar, Splenda, or whatever you prefer.
  • Milk of choice – I use whole milk since it’s always in our fridge for the toddler.
  • Optional flavorings – Chocolate syrup, caramel, or your favorite flavored syrups (Skinny Mixes has some great options!).

Directions:

1. Brew strong coffee.

If you have espresso, perfect! If not, just use more coffee grounds to amp up the flavor. I usually do about 2–3 tablespoons of Maxwell House per shot. I use my Ninja Coffee Bar on the Single Cup and Specialty Brew settings.

💖 Also, shoutout to the Mother’s Day mug my toddler made me—it’s my favorite!

2. Sweeten it.
Add about 1 tablespoon of sugar or Splenda (adjust to your taste) and stir it into the hot coffee so it fully dissolves.

3. Add flavor (if you want!).
This part is totally optional, but I love to mix in a flavored syrup. For this latte, I used Skinny Mixes Dark Chocolate Espresso—and wow, it was delicious!

4. Froth your milk.
Microwave about 1/2 cup of milk in a glass cup for 30 seconds, then froth using a handheld frother (mine is super high-speed and takes seconds).
No frother? Warm the milk in a mason jar, close the lid, and shake it vigorously until it’s foamy!

5. Pour it all together.
Slowly pour the frothed milk over your coffee mixture—and you’ve got yourself a delicious homemade latte!

That’s it! You just saved yourself money and got a cozy, café-style latte at home.
